Super Bowl, Super Food
Are you heading to Houston for the Super Bowl? If so, have I got a list of restaurants for you to check out!
Having originally met and dated in Houston, David and I are veryyyy familiar with the H-town food scene. While this isn't even close to the extensive list of our favorite spots to eat, I wanted to list out some restaurants in different areas, different price ranges, and different types of food.
Coltivare – Cannot get enough of this place. It's right in the middle of the Heights, and has a market-to-table feel with Italian/American fare. They don't take reservations, so call ahead!
Oporto – I stop here EVERY time I am in town. The octopus and Seafood Balchão Curry are by far my favorite. They also don't take reservations for groups under 8, so call ahead and put your name on the list.
The Pass & Provisions. As the website describes, this favorite spot of mine is "two restaurants under one roof." The Pass is a more high-end tasting menu. Provisions is a more casual setting.
Liberty Kitchen & Oysterette – GREAT seafood. Love their poké!
El Tiempo – Our favorite spot for TexMex!
Caracol – Mexican seafood. Need I say more? Oh, and look at this dessert.
Brooklyn Athletic Club – David and I had our engagement party here. It is a great bar, that also has fun outdoor games so that you can enjoy the awesome Houston weather.
La Grange – Great patio with great drinks (I love their wine list) AND shuffle board!
Stones Throw – Two story bar with great drinks and fun, ornate decor.
Eight Row Flint – Great cocktails and beer list (and owned by the same people as Coltivare).
Julep – The best cocktails! It can get a little packed inside, but they have a patio that is perfect on a nice Houston evening.
Johnny's Gold Brick – Laid back atmosphere with fantastic cocktails.
Down House – While we're still mad that they took our FAVORITE popovers off the menu, Down House has a great ambiance and even better food.
Adair Kitchen – All the deliciousness you need. I love their Balsamic Eggs and Mimosas (of course!)
Morningstar – Great coffee and donuts! (See below)
Revival Market – Located in the heights (and ALSO owned by the same people as Coltivare), we made this a very frequent breakfast stop.
Common Bond Cafe & Bakery – Oh. My. God. These pastries. I cannot explain how GOOD they are!!!! And I wish I had a picture of their packaging. It's the cutest.
La Guadalupana – Such great croissants and coffee!
There's so much great food in Houston, I am honestly SO jealous of anyone going there this weekend!
Because Houston is already a big city, even before the Super Bowl, we recommend always making a reservation or calling ahead to put your name down!
I hope you love one of our favorite cities!
