Saving The Date
If you couldn't tell from my post about my bridesmaids ask, I am a budget/DIYer. With this in mind I really wanted to try to find a way to do our Save the Dates on budget, and possibly with a little of my own flair behind it. Lucky for me my cousin/bridesmaid is a graphic designer, and she lives here in Chicago! With her help I created Save the Dates that were personal AND affordable.
I started by picking a photo taken by the wonderful Houston-based photographer David hired for our engagement, Rebecca from Giddy & Gold (she's awesome and so much fun), and then did a basic template of how I wanted our save the date to look.
And then my cousin made them her own!
What was great, but also a little stressful, was that we got to pick out our own paper and decide how we wanted them printed. What I mean by stressful is that, not really knowing Chicago well yet, I had a really hard time finding a stationary store that sold the quality of paper I wanted at an affordable price. We ended up going with a paper that wasn't as heavy as I wanted, simply because I couldn't figure out where else to go!
With that said, I absolutely LOVE how they turned out.
I ordered some black envelopes and gold pens from Amazon, as well as a personalized stamp. It's time consuming, but I really love hand addressing cards and invitations, because I think it gives them a little extra personalization.
Do you have any budgeting/DIY tips for wedding planning? I would LOVE to hear them!!! Feel free to leave a comment below, or shoot me an email!
