A Couple Bites

Houstonians transported to Chicago, we're all about discovering new food, flavors, adventure, and style!

A New Year, A New Blog

A New Year, A New Blog

Ever since moving from Houston to Chicago in the fall, I've been in between jobs. Since I have some time on my hands my friend suggested that I try blogging (more like peer pressured me into it). I had my worries – does anyone really care what I have to say? Maybe no one will read these posts. Maybe my mom will be my only follower. But, with all these concerns, I've decided I am going to give this thing a shot. New Year, New City – New Blog. I'm about to be a 30-something former-teacher who has zero idea what she's doing with her life, so I am going to try something new. I will channel Carrie Bradshaw.

Here's a recap of our evening. My fiancé is obsessed with finding delicious places to eat, and couldn't be more excited to be experiencing food in a new city. He's the brains behind finding new restraurants, bars, etc., and making sure they appeal to my ultra-sophisticated/high-maintenance tastes (am I kidding?).

We started the night at Baptiste & Bottle, and it may be our new favorite spot. The ambiance was awesome. They gave us free cocktails in the cutest crystal glasses. And the bartenders are our new best friends.

After enjoying a cocktail (or two), we headed over to GreenRiver. In case I haven't mentioned it before, I am NOT the restaurant savvy individual in our relationship. When David told me we were having dinner in a hospital building, I was not thrilled. And I was wrong. The prix fixe menu was amazing. Having recently found out I am not allergic to shellfish, I tried every single shellfish option on the menu – including my first taste of lobster. I'm hooked.

2017 – so far you're off to a great start. Where to eat next?
