A Late Mother's Day Celebration
My mom and I are REALLY close. Like, my friends/aunt make fun of me for how obsessed I am with my mom. What can I say, she really is my best friend (after Austin – woof!).
My mom's birthday and Mother's Day fall very close together – sometimes even on the same day! Because of a good friend's wedding we couldn't be with her for her birthday/Mother's Day this year, so to make it up to her I invited her to see Hamilton with me in Chicago! (In case you missed it, David took me to Hamilton for my birthday a few months ago, and it was AMAZING.)
We decided to make a whole weekend of it ... and it was a HOT weekend.
We started by walking around on Saturday, grabbing coffee at the new Collectivo (amazing – and great patio!) ...
... and having breakfast at the JParker.
The food + the view = the best brunch spot!
From there, we walked across the street and checked out the Green City Market, which was amazing. They had such a great food (and floral) selection, I was wishing I wasn't already full!
And then we went and checked out the Old Town Art Fair, which was the BEST. Granted, most of the items were out of my price range, but I did find a few items to bring home.
It was so hot, and I was SO thankful for this dress – it's seriously perfect for Chicago summer days.
And then ... it was finally time for Hamilton.
My mom loved Hamilton just as much as me, and this time around I picked up on things I didn't notice the first time around (maybe I need to go again, what do you think?!).
By the end of the show we were starving, so we met David at Ema for dinner. If you haven't been, I highly recommend checking it out and trying their House-Made Labneh (burnt honey. enough said) and the Stracciatella.
It was the most perfect Saturday, and I really think my mom enjoyed her late Mother's Day/birthday present!
