A December Wedding

A December Wedding

We're getting married this year, and we couldn't be more excited.

A few of my favorite things (minus the check, of course) at brunch with our families the day after we got engaged!

When planning our wedding, a lot of factors came into play – including where to have it. David is currently getting his MBA from Northwestern, so we're planning our wedding around his break in December. As much as I love Chicago, I knew I didn't want to have a winter wedding in potential negative degree weather. Enter – Texas! David grew up in Texas, and we met in Houston.

David and I toyed around with the idea of having our wedding in Houston, or our other favorite Texas town – Austin.

We love Houston, and ultimately plan on growing old in good 'ol H-Town, but, as a lot of our guests are coming from all around the country (and globe!), we decided Austin was more fun as a destination.

When we started planning our wedding, we realized that I am a special type of bridezilla... I am the type of bride who worries SO much about everything in everyday life, that it just directly translated to planning for our wedding.

Weddings are EXPENSIVE. I know, I know. We hear this all the time. But until planning our own wedding, I didn't realize just how expensive. Like, to the point that I was begging David to elope (but, obviously, take our parents – I could never get married without my mom there to hold my hand! I am such an adult).

Thank god David is my calming presence. Whenever I get overly stressed out about prices or all the other million other things, he reminds me that we're only getting married once, and that this is supposed to be a celebration with the people we love the most. That's what it's about, and nothing else.

So, we started looking at venues! Guys. This was SO FUN. So much free food and champagne. (David and I said we're just going to start touring places around town and tell them we're considering their locations as venues so we can get free food and drinks. Like, the best new pre-game idea.)

We visited some of the most beautiful venues...

Ringing the bell at Camp Lucy. On me – Dress: Goodnight Macaroon; Shoes: Tory Burch; Sunnies – Rayban; On David – I'm pretty sure his whole outfit is from Academy :)

Cheers at  Hotel Saint Cecilia. From the decor to the SOUL pool, I'm obsessed and want to plan a girls' trip IMMEDIATELY. Dress: Nordstrom; Bag: Gigi New York

... and ultimately chose Hotel Ella, the perfect fit for us! I honestly can't tell you how great the staff at the hotel has been, and how excited we are for next December.

With that in mind, we've started compiling a list of our favorite Austin restaurants for our wedding guests. Here's what we have so far!

Do you have any restaurants you'd add to the list? Let us know!!!
